A Hiveware® for Word document begins as an outline created in Microsoft Word. Each element in the outline can be independently authored. The outline also sets the default document formatting and styles.
Here Amy has created the outline for a proposal using Word's outlining feature. Then she will click Save Outline on the Hiveware ribbon to initially create the shared document.
A Hiveware® for Word outline is flexible and powerful. It can include SGML commands like the ‘*’ in “Department*” to specify that the number of similar subsections will automatically grow as the material is written. The SGML occurrence indicators (zero or more, one or more, and optional) and the SGML connectors (sequential, or, and any-order) are all supported, so structured document applications can be automatically managed.
Hiveware® for Word adds a unique and exclusive “Delegate” menu command to Word. Here Amy is delegating the writing of the Management Plan portion of the document to Bob. This will let Bob edit that portion while Amy works on the Executive Summary.
Hiveware for Word's Delegate Feature
Delegate is the critical feature that allows authors to maintain control of who and when various authors make contributions to the document. Without this feature group authored documents lose accountability and ownership which the single-authored document has. View a video of this feature by clicking here (.wmv).
